16. Museum of Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet House

The photo collection of the Museum covers the period of the construction of the theatre (1931-1940). Practically all the photographs of that period are dated and described. They chronicle the construction from the very start to the beginning of 1940s. During the pre-war and war years no photos were taken. The collection amounts to about 1 thou unique photos.

It also includes original photos of great Russian opera singers Sergey Lemeshev (1962) and Ivan Kozlovsky (1949), who performed on the stage of the Theatre, and the photos of Dmitry Shostakovich during the evacuation years in Novosibirsk, as well as when he worked with the company later in 1960s. There are photographs with autographs of such composers as Reinhold Glière, Dmitry Kabalevsky, Vasily Solovyov-Sedoi, Aram Khachaturyan, Rodion Shchedrin and others.

There are also collections of batons, opera scores signed by A. Khachaturyan, L. Laputin, R. Shchedrin, V. Solovyov-Sedoi and many others, presents of porcelain and ivory brought from the tour in China in 1957 and from Egyptian tour in 1962, a copy of gold jewellery worn by singer Rossi as Amneris at the premier of Aida by Verdi at the opening of Opera House in Cairo in 1871.

The playbills of the first opera and ballet performances of the Theatre are on display here, as well as scenic and costume sketches made by Knoblok, Domrachyov, Belogolovy, Sevastyanov, Morozov and other artists.
